Great White Shark – Vulnerable

Meet the Great White Shark – the largest predatory fish on Earth. Great Whites grow to an average of 15 to 20 feet & can weigh up to 5,000 pounds.

While they are powerful predators, humans aren’t likely to be on the menu! Great White Shark attacks on humans are statistically rare, and it’s even rarer for an attack to be fatal. Rather, Great Whites play an important role at the top of the marine food chain.

Great Whites can be found in cool, coastal waters across the globe. Despite their portrayal in popular culture, little is actually known about their behavior. Still, scientists have noted that their populations are decreasing. Threats to Great Whites include overfishing and accidental by-catch.

You can take action & help this legendary species by supporting regulations and organizations that promote safer fishing practices.
